Walking towards Fiacaill Ridge

We awoke to grim weather conditions and there was no chance of any outside climbing. Apparently Dunkeld was dry but the rain had already moved south to Pitlochry so by the time we drove down there then it be to late. We had two options; either a day at Inverness indoor wall or a morning scrambling in Coire An t-Sneachda followed by some skills on the Glenmore Lodge indoor wall. I decided to take the scrambling option and pretty much regretted this as soon as I set off up from the upper car park into the Coire. I must of been into Coire An t-Sneachda five times now and on each occasion, the weather has been fowl.

We hiked right into the Coire and set about practising some rope skills up the side of Fiacaill Buttress. I had covered a lot of the techniques when I took my Summer Mountain Leader but there was some new things I had only read about so it was good to put these into practice. It was really windy and even with full waterproofs we where totally soaked. Calling it a day, we decided to head back to the comfort of Glenmore Lodge and use the wall instead. Maybe I should of gone to Inverness after all?
